Africa-focused conferences at the University of Cambridge play an essential role in reshaping global understanding of the continent. They create space for African leaders, entrepreneurs and students to interrogate colonial legacies, challenge outdated Western narratives and present forward-looking frameworks for economic, political and cultural progress. Within an institution historically tied to empire, these events hold particular significance by centring African perspectives and amplifying conversations that influence policymaking and international investment.Across the Africa Business Conference, in partnership with the Judge Business School, and the Africa Together Conference with the Cambridge Union, I contributed to strategic planning, audience engagement and high-level programme delivery. I helped shape the sold-out Africa Business Conference’s production approach and served as a host and moderator for Africa Together, leading discussions including one with the Vice President of Botswana. I also co-produced the official highlights video, crafting the digital narrative that extended the conference’s reach beyond Cambridge. Together, these contributions helped ensure that the events were both intellectually rigorous and globally resonant, strengthening Cambridge’s role as a hub for meaningful African discourse.
